What We Believe.

God is the one living and true Creator and Ruler of the creation. God has revealed Himself in three ways: as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • Jesus is the Son of God, the second member of the Trinity. He was born of the Virgin Mary, truly God and truly man, who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven. He paid the price for the sins of all believers when He died on the cross. Three days later, God raised Him from the dead. Now He lives and reigns with God the Father and the Holy Spirit.

  • The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Trinity. He is the presence of God living in the lives of believers in Jesus. He provides power for Christian living, understanding the scriptures, and empowerment for people to continue the ministry of Jesus today.

  • Salvation is God's gift to us. The only sure way of salvation is to confess one's sin and to trust in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.

  • His Return will happen one day as Jesus will come again to earth in triumph. He will receive all believers into His eternal Kingdom and will judge the living and the dead.

  • The Bible was inspired by God and contains all things necessary for salvation. When read under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Bible is our true rule and guide for faith and practice. We long to see those who feel disconnected from God and the church find hope, healing, and wholeness in Jesus Christ. Whether you feel disconnected from God, or have a heart for those who do, Woodlawn United Methodist Church is for you.

What We Do

At Woodlawn United Methodist Church we seek to live out our vision through our mission to Seek God, Welcome People, Offer Christ, and Respond by Serving.

  • Seek God. Jesus says the most important thing we can do is to love God. We do this together each week. Our service is full of rich traditions where we sing hymns, use liturgy, recite the Lord’s Prayer and the Apostles Creed. We take communion together on the first Sunday of every month.

  • Welcome People. Our church welcomes and values all people. We believe every person is a child of God and a person of infinite worth. Come as you are and find a place to connect with God and with others. We are made up of individuals and families of all ages and walks of life.

  • Offer Christ. Only Jesus can truly change lives. Only a relationship with Him allows us to grow into the people we’re made to be. Offering Christ through Sunday School, group gatherings and Bible studies. We value open conversations about the Bible and life, praying together and for one another while we form lasting friendships.

  • Respond by Serving. We believe that worship should not be confined to the walls of a building. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever we are. We are a church that can be found serving God and others in our community and around the world.
